Banns not read in Ireland?

I was hoping for some advice.

Myself and my partner have recently gotten engaged, she is UK national and i am Irish. I am currently job hunting in the UK but still resident in Ireland. We have spoken with my fiance’s local church and they have agreed to marry us but they mentioned that I need to have bann’s read in my local church here, but as i have discovered we don’t read the bann’s in Ireland anymore.

I can’t seem to find any information as to what we should do next so any advice you can give would be fantastic!

Thanks so much for your help.

    Hi
The purpose of Banns is to ensure that anyone getting married has not already got a wife/husband and it was historically assumed that people in your local community would be aware of such issues and speak up. Banns are still read on 3 consecutive Sundays before the wedding. A certificate is then produced to give to the Priest who is conducting the service to confirm that no-one objected.

You’ll need to chat with your minister back home in Ireland to see what the system is there. It could be that you’ll need a license but the Vicar here advise you of this and we do have Diocesan Registrars who are Lawyers to call upon.

Sorry not to be more help but I can only find this from 7 years ago.http://www.ireland.anglican.org/index.php?do=news&newsid=1151
